The name says it all

I would like to thank my daughter's obsession with Dora for the
inspiration for a name, and the conversation with my original
follower for getting me started, thanks you two.

I have no idea how this will evolve, but I am going to try and keep
things isolated. I remember a friend complaining that once geeks
get kids their geeky posts degenerate into annoyingly blissful
ramblings about their children, so this will be avoided if possible.
That does not mean that kid stuff will not appear, just that I will be
tagging it clearly.

So, in keeping with the name, expect rants, lots of them, mostly about
various technologies, along with stuff I have discovered and probably
a bunch of bad code examples, just to keep things interesting.

I have not done something like this before, except in mails to
friends, who have encouraged me to go public, probably to save
themselves having to read endless drivel. So to quote Kate Bush,
please be kind to my mistakes.

Anyway, enjoy, and please comment away. :)

LinkedIn, did you ever think of functioning?

Well I don't know if anyone has been using LinkedIn, but due to my
need to find new employment, and the updates it mails me I have been
spending some time on the site, or at least trying to.

I have noticed that recently anything involving saving information,
i.e. writing data, is not working. I only care because after
ignoring my account for months, if not years, I have been trying to do
some tidying. But... I can't archive messages, I can't change my
profile; nothing. To make matters worse, just trying to load the pages
sends my browsers (yes, I tried the same pages with various browsers)
into a tail spin, and my cpu load through the roof. Nice. Must be part
of those upgrades they keep mailing me about.

So, I am thinking I should just get rid of the account, but with the
way things are going, that would involve changing the state of the
account, and no doubt that would not be working either. This site has
a lot of good things, but if they can't keep it functioning, I am not
sure what the point of it is anymore. Am I the only one with these
problems?
